Sustainable Farming
Our farm is built around practical, sustainable methods designed specifically for our Arizona environment. Rather than forcing the land to produce, we work with it—focusing on permaculture principles, improving soil health, and using water as efficiently as possible. In a desert climate, every decision matters, and our goal is to slowly build a system that is more resilient, productive, and capable of supporting life long-term.
A big part of our focus is “greening the desert”—creating shade, retaining moisture, and improving the health of our soil over time. This is a gradual process that requires observation, adjustment, and consistency, but it allows us to build something that works with our environment instead of against it.
We also make intentional use of the resources already on the farm. Water from our duck ponds is reused to irrigate and support plant growth, returning nutrients back into the system instead of being wasted. Our animals are part of that cycle as well—contributing to soil health and overall farm productivity.
We use practices like deep litter bedding in our enclosures, which naturally breaks down over time and contributes to compost and soil improvement. These systems help us reduce waste, build healthier soil, and create a more balanced, regenerative environment across the farm.
Our animals are raised with care and respect, and we follow a whole-animal approach—using what the farm provides as fully and responsibly as possible. This includes creating traditional products like lard and tallow, minimizing waste, and honoring the role each animal plays in the system.
Everything we produce is made in small batches using simple ingredients and traditional methods whenever possible. We focus on quality over quantity, keeping our process hands-on so we can maintain care and consistency in every product we offer.
Farming in this environment comes with real challenges, and we are constantly learning, adapting, and improving. We believe in transparency, in doing things the right way even when it’s harder, and in sharing the reality of farm life with our customers. Our goal is to create food and products that not only taste good, but that people can feel good about supporting.
